The Academic Chess club provides students with structured instruction in the game of chess. Led by experienced instructors, the program teaches fundamental rules, strategies, and gameplay while emphasizing skill development.
Participants engage in activities designed to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical reasoning, concentration, and mental discipline. These cognitive benefits support broader academic performance and personal growth. The club welcomes students of varying experience levels, from beginners to those building intermediate skills, in a supportive, low-pressure setting.
This activity use to previously be offered at Veterans, separate from LEAD, for a fee, but we decided to bring them as a LEAD activity to be offered to our students at no cost.
Participants must currently be in grades 1 to 3.
Registration starts on 09/04/2026 and ends on 12/07/2026.
Room: Lunch tables
